Hello fellow Krytacians and glorious staff,

I've been running my trident MKII SPR for a while now and so far had at Gate titan installed and swapped the stock barrel for a Krytac Prommy one. Had the dealership install one earlier but instead of the krytac prommy they flung some regular prommy in that protruded out into the flash hider. So I had that changed back to the prommy made specifally for the SPR.

So far so good you'd say, and nice performance indeed. However I noticed that both of the prommies were picking up BB residue in a hexagonal pattern (e.g. several stripes at regular interval along the barrel wall) along the last centimeters of the barrel.  I had a look at the barrels because with both after a while I noticed a sharp drop in accuracy and an increase in "fliers".

It stands to reason that in this case you'd have fed some junk BB's into your AEG but I'm using .25g Green Devils which have an excellent reputation and never gave me any problems before. I could easily clean out the residue with acetone but I'd have to do this halfway trough a day of playing and I prefer not to take my replica apart in the field. On top of that top notch barrels and BB's shouldn't need cleaning THAT frequently.

I haven't gotten around to testing another brand of BB's trough the barrel yet. As good a rep as GreenDevils might have I might have come across a bad batch. Does anyone else have such experiences with these barrels?

biodegradable ammo tends to have a softer composition to enable mechanical breakdown(you know, bio-degrading). What you're seeing is material degradation as it exits the barrel.

Pretty normal for highly degradable ammo. You'd have to increase your barrel cleaning intervals.

I did always clean it after every skirm. We can't use anything none degradable in my country so I've always been using it but never got fouling quite this bed. I reckon the batch I was running happened to be particulary generous in rubbing off it's material. I'll be trying different brands to see which ones don't leave quite as much residue.

It's still a dream to clean out compared to my real steel service rifle after putting a few mags of blanks trough it back in the day ;-)

Just contacted the retailer. Turns out it is a common problem in the current batches of Prometheus barrels. Both their regular and specific Krytac ones. They all foul up within a few shots. They're talking to Prommy about it.
